About
Career
I began working in broadband support nearly 10 years ago before moving into IT helpdesk positions, where I first started to learn about CyberSecurity. A friend of mine introduced me to the concept and pointed me towards resources and podcasts such as the classical Darknet Diaries. Working as a system administrator then I moved to moonlighting as a security researcher.
From here my interest spiked dramatically. Originally I fell in love with the concept of Penetration Testing and began taking steps to move my career in this direction.
Working then for an internal blue team still having the desire to move to penetration testing. This however this is when I first truly go pushed into DFIR as well as performing threat hunting activities and began doing more and more research to become the best I could be at it. Working closely with tools such as EDRs, ESGs, Firewalls (Outside of just configuration).
Stepping then though into a penetration testing role where I worked for 2 years, They ’encouraged’ me to sit the eJPT certification where I truly began to fall out of love with the concept of penetration testing. Realising then that the times when i was most happy in this position was when I would be involved in DFIR contracts. I left to get away from what felt to be the repetitiveness of pentesting.
Now positioned as an Offensive & Defensive Security Professional for an company I am tasked with building/rebuilding the security infrastructure as well as performing DFIR activities and threat hunting, with the odd bit of red teaming activites thrown in. I realise that the best practitioners of either Blue Teaming or Red Teaming are aware of the TTPs of the other side.
I conduct forensic investigations outside of work sometimes in CTFs, when I catch them. Or I conduct research, the creation of this portfolio stemmed from wanting a place to house my certifications to increase visibility of them and also a place to house my research instead of it rotting in an Obsidian vault on an external drive.
